The bar as an architectural feature

At Villa María Golf Club, located in Villa Nueva, Córdoba, Argentina, the renovation of the Club House was driven by a clear vision: to create contemporary spaces that enhance the experience of those who use them by combining functionality, warmth and a carefully considered architectural identity.

Designed by CENT | ARQUITECTURA & DISEÑO and Puertas Pagani | Arquitectura y Construcción, the project transforms the club's communal areas through a composition in which architecture, lighting and materials work together to create elegant and welcoming environments. The project is focused on two main spaces: the members’ club and Fairway, the restaurant, where ceramics take centre stage as one of the project’s key features.

In the members' lounge, our Agadir Selva porcelain tiles have been used to clad the bar and columns, while in the restaurant and event hall they have been applied to the curved front of the bar. In both spaces, the bar is conceived not merely as a functional element but as the visual focal point of the interior.

Thanks to the format of Agadir, these porcelain tiles are perfectly suited to cladding columns and curved surfaces, creating visual continuity while emphasising the building's architectural geometry. The richness of the glaze and the subtle tonal variations of the tiles capture and reflect the light differently throughout the day, adding depth and movement to the composition. Their distinctive green hue also establishes an elegant dialogue with the project's material palette, which combines neutral walls, deep green niches and the warmth of natural wood. Together, these elements create a sophisticated atmosphere where tradition and contemporary design coexist effortlessly.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Club House has been designed with a very specific purpose: to encourage social interaction. The generous proportions of the bar, the thoughtful furniture layout and the seamless connection between the different spaces create a comfortable and welcoming environment where architecture enhances the social experience. This project demonstrates how ceramics can go far beyond their role as a surface finish, becoming a design tool capable of defining the identity and character of commercial and hospitality spaces.
