Colour as architecture: ahome where every material shapes the atmosphere

Designed by Rise Projects NYC, this home is not defined by a single standout feature, but by a clear concept: using colour as a tool to shape the spatial experience. Every material, texture and finish has been carefully selected to form part of a cohesive composition, where soft blues, mineral-inspired surfaces and natural wood create a seamless sense of continuity that accompanies the user throughout the home.

Located on Fire Island, this renovation demonstrates that the character of a space is not determined by the number of elements it contains, but by the relationship between them. Rather than relying on bold contrasts, the project embraces a restrained colour palette that conveys serenity from the very first moment.

The blue-grey tones of the cabinetry interact harmoniously with the stone worktops, while natural fibres and timber introduce a subtle warmth that balances the composition. The result is a bright, contemporary interior that invites you to slow down and stay. A space where architecture quietly recedes, allowing the atmosphere and the sensory experience to take centre stage.

Within this carefully curated composition, our Kit-Kat Water tiles play an essential role. Their delicate blue hue adds depth without overwhelming the space, while the elongated format introduces a linear texture and a sense of movement that complements the geometry of the kitchen. The glossy finish reflects natural light, creating subtle variations that bring dynamism to an intentionally calm palette. Here, ceramic tiles are no longer perceived as a simple backdrop, but as an active contributor to the identity of the project.

Beyond passing trends, this home embraces design solutions that remain relevant over time. The simplicity of its lines, the honesty of its materials and the coherence between architecture and interior design create spaces that can evolve without losing their essence. Nothing feels superfluous; every decision reflects a thoughtful balance between functionality, comfort and beauty.
