Where classical and modern design merge

This residential project in Cluj Napoca, designed by Oana Cimpeanu, is located in Romania and is characterized by a splendid fusion of classical and modern design, creating a home that stands out for being cozy but also highly sophisticated.

Undoubtedly, one of the most striking details is the black and white floor tiles arranged in a chessboard pattern. These tiles were chosen because they recall the original flooring of the apartment, typical of many old European homes, but presented with a renewed approach and perfectly integrated into a more contemporary context. The pattern creates an elegant visual contrast, marking the transition between different areas of the house.

By using our Black and White tiles for this floor, a unifying element is achieved throughout the spaces, providing continuity and harmony while also respecting the original spirit of the home. In the three spaces shown in the images, the black-and-white porcelain floor is a visual statement that serves as a transition between areas and takes center stage in a contemporary kitchen with wood accents.

The kitchen floor adds a retro touch that contrasts with the modernity of the furniture. The continuity of the chessboard pattern connects this room with the rest of the house while fulfilling its practical function, as porcelain is resistant to daily wear and easy to clean. The white surfaces of the backsplash and marble bring brightness and balance, contrasting with the black furniture and walls paneled in warm wood.

In summary, this project stands out for blending classical and contemporary elements, using black and white ceramic flooring as the common thread throughout the design. Our ceramic tiles act as a bridge between the past and the present, respecting the original essence of the house without sacrificing the functionality and elegance of modern design. The smooth transitions between wooden and ceramic floors bring fluidity and coherence to the spaces, while decorative details and furniture enhance a warm and sophisticated atmosphere.

The result is a home that invites you to live in it—we love it!
