A modern home with a touch of tradition and views of the Alhambra

This renovation project, designed by Jamba Interiorismo for Genteel Home Apartments, stands out for preserving the traditional and rustic style of Granada's Albaicín neighbourhood, but with a modern and contemporary touch without leaving aside the warmth and cosiness for which this type of style stands out.

María and Carmen have opted for two of the series that best reproduce handmade tiles. Agadir and Tabarca are born from the natural imperfection of handcrafted work, each piece stands out for being unique and for those irregularities, sought on purpose, to give the tile a strong artisan character. Their beauty and their ability to create traditionally inspired spaces make them the protagonists of the space they cover, as in the case of this kitchen and bathroom.

For its part, our Agadir Niebla tile is laid horizontally on the kitchen splashback. Its untoned finish helps to reflect the light from the recessed lighting under the shelf, creating a feeling of spaciousness and cleanliness. Its white tone contrasts softly with the grey worktop and the rest of the kitchen elements. This light colour brightens the space, making it appear larger and airier, while the glossy finish adds a modern, polished touch.

The regular and symmetrical arrangement of the tiles creates a sense of order and cleanliness, while the texture and soft tones bring warmth to the space. On a visual level, the tiles are also in harmony with the exposed ceiling beams, which add a rustic touch to the kitchen. Here our Agadir porcelain tiles play a key role in maintaining the aesthetic balance between all the elements that make up the kitchen.

On the other hand, in the bathroom our Tabarca Matt White piece works as the perfect complement to the shower wall tiles, which feature a geometric pattern. Once again, our tiles provide that balance and visual contrast to the decorated tiles, between the decorative and the simple charm of the rustic.

The light colour not only expands the space, but also brightens it up, making the bathroom feel more spacious and relaxing. They also add a handcrafted and tactile dimension to the overall bathroom design. By using the tiles on the wall behind the toilet, a visual continuity is created throughout the space, making it feel cohesive and harmonious.

Each of these spaces makes clever use of tiles, not only as a practical element, but also as a key design tool to create atmospheres that are both contemporary and welcoming - we love it!
